Each men has his own facial hair growth orientation but the question men often ask theselves the first time they shave is: "Should I shave with or against the grain?"
The grain is the global orientation that your hair will take after a couple of days of growing up.
Just take a few minutes to go with your hand on your hair. If you feel a rough sensation you are going against the grain, on the opposite if you feel a soft sensation you are going with the grain. Normally the healthy way to shave is with the grain but some pretend that against the grain you will have a closer shave and others begin with the grain and end against it.
Which one do you like more?
Shaving with the grain will avoid cuts, ingrowing hairs and razor burn.
Shaving against the grain can create ingrowing hair because you will catch the hair at another level below your skin.
Furthermore don't forget that when you shave you are not only taking care of your hair but your are also putting away a slightly part of your skin, then be gentle with your skin and choose to shave with the grain ;-)
