Why Raz*War is called Raz*War?

What's in a name?

Raz*War comes etymologically from the word ”raz" that is found in the word ”razor" (but also raser, rasieren, rasierer ...) and “war" which means ”fight". In other words and in a humoristic way, Raz*War implies a fight in the shaving market. But the war that we’re initiating is decidedly a non-violent war (the razor is not to be seen as a weapon) and this war should be taken with great humor by all its ambassadors and customers.

But we can also say that "Raz" has a Norman origin. It derives from a Viking word meaning “quick flow“. ”Raz" shares the root with the word "Race”. To sum up, “Raz” is a quick flow, a wave that is rapidly spreading (a tidal wave).

In computing terminology "raz" also means "reset” (in French "remise à zéro").

Is this "reset” necessary in the current world of shaving? We think so, that’s why Raz*War was born. And we think that a "backwards shift" (as implied by a reset) is needed to fuel the Raz*War revolution.

Raz*War is therefore seeking to shake the well-established rules in our consumer society.

The Raz*War revolution is both a subtle mixture of modernity and past. A step back to basics to rediscover affordable quality shaving and incite the consumer to think about his consumer habits. Raz*War also brings forward more eco-friendly packaging and an innovative distribution method: the shaving subscription plan.
