When going out for a date, for sure the young male of genus Home Sapiens, try to look as good as possible. He usually cleans his teeth, avoid garlic food at lunch, ensure his clothes are appropriate and seek after the perfect shave.
Also, (And, I confess that, when I was young, it was the case for me...) several days before the date, he starts looking at his face in the mirror to ensure no acne buttons just appeared and/or pray for not getting -enemy of the enemies- an ingrown hair.
Ingrown hair: who never suffered from this, for sure not deadly, condition that really annoy you for weeks, leave ugly scars and can, even, hamper you from sleeping (As I heard from some maniacs getting up at night for trying to solve their hair problem...)
Young men should know that they have more chances to develop ingrown hair as their hair are often a little more curly and soft. As a consequence, the hairs have more chance to enter back in the same follicle ("ingrown hair") or enter in the follicle nearby ("razor bump"). See my illustration:
Ingrown hairs also happen as a consequence of multi-blades systems. Honestly, I recomend these multi-blades systems, unless you are a fan of straight razor. A 3 to 5 blades head really gives you more chance to get a "Baby Butt Shave". But, the thing is that it also, slightly, increase the chance of getting a ingrown hair or razor bump. This because of the so-called "hysterisis" effect that causes the hair to be "lifted" by the first blades to be cut, afterwards, by the next blades. See my illustration:I was personally myself subject to ingrown hairs (4 to 6 episodes per year). But this is now old story: if I except two episodes due to the test of other products, I got no more episode of ingrown hairs since two years.
My secret? I use shaving oil! And I strongly recommend young men to try and test it. It has plenty of advantages (see previous posts), but one is absolutely key for me: no more episodes of ingrown hairs...
How does this happen? In fact, as you will see on the illustration here below, the shaving oil will help the blades enters the hairs. The "hysteresis" effect will still happen. But, and statistically, the chances that the last blades still "lift" more the hairs instead of cutting them got significantly lower. The "statistical distribution" of hairs properly cut is less large: meaning there is a very tiny chance only that ablade is so much pulled that it enters back into the skin. My illustration shows it clearly:
Hence, young adults and men looking for the perfect shave or for maximize your chances for a good date: It is clear to me that you need to switch to shaving oil. Black and colored people, who have more "curly" type hairs, should also use shaving oil. I will explain this in a next post...
Just try the shaving oil! And spread the word.
Keep on shaving,
Pierre,
