The MATHS of shaving (1)

Have you already calculated how much you spend in razor and razor blades per year? If not, you should do... And you would be astonished.
Let's consider first that you are a man and that you buy system razors, i.e. a handle with refill cartridges (much less polluting that the disposable razors) or razor blades. We assume also that your are aged between 25 and 35 years. Let's now consider your are the "average" consumer: then, according to our research, you would pay an average 2,05 Euros per refill razor head and you change your blades every 9 days. This will cost you 83 Euros per year. Not too much isn't? Only 4 months of internet connections in an expensive country... Although, if you add this cost will all the other costs (foams, gels, pre-shave, after-shave), this will already reach a quite significant figure (see one of my next blog posts)...

Imagine now that you keep buying the "average" blades and that you change your razor heads once a week, you would pay 107 Euros per year. If you change every 5 days (what is required for some blades), you would pay 150 Euros per year. It starts already to becomes a fortune.

Let's continue: imagine now you buy only premium system razors, with razor heads having 4, 5 or even 6 blades (yes, yes, it exists!). Put yourself in the situation: you would like to seduce women (or men), you crave for "Baby Butt" shave, you would like to feel in the shoes of a top tennis-man or a top soccer player... And you don't resist to buy the highest priced system razors: 4,5 Euros per razor head (5blades per razor head). Your annual bill would reach 183 Euros per year if you change your razor heads each 9 days, 235 Euros per week if you change your razor heads each week and 329 Euros per week/each 5 days.
I have met once (I swear its true!) someone who changes his razor heads...every day. Hence, if he switch to a premium razor, his annual bill will amount to...1643 Euros per year. More than the annual salary of a lot of workers in the world (In Bengladesh, the minimal monthly wages as been raised to 38 USD...)

I prepared the following graph for you for comparing Raz*War to an average priced razor head (Say a two or three blades per razor head, average quality, private label brand) and a high priced razor head (The most expensive razor head -till now, as a yet more expensive is expected!!! - available, proposed by the well known multinational company...).

As you know, RazWar proposes razor blades subscriptions plans. Hence, I compared the subscriptions plans to what would be the equivalent for the average priced and the high priced brands. For the "El Che" Model (one high quality razor head with 3 blades) , there is three subscription plans available:30blades/year, 60 blades/year and 90 blades per year. For the "El Fidel" Model (one premium quality razor head with 5 blades), there is two subscriptions plans available : 24 blades/year and 48 blades/year. Hence, to allow the comparison, I adapted the unit price of the "El Fidel" to the 30-60-90 blades/year scheme.
The graph speaks per itself. No? Just imagine now that instead of keeping buying your very expensive razor blades 90 times per year, you switch to a 48 razor heads/5 blades per year "El Fidel" subscription plan: you would win 301 Euros per year...

For 301 Euros (your annual saving), you could get a 5stars hotel stay somewhere in Tunisia...
