The true magics of the combination of Shaving Oil and Shaving Soap!

(This blog post never appeared on the RazWar Blog but is slightly adapted from my private blog)

As you know (For the regular reader of my posts at least), there is no one single day without me not testing and re-testing again the products Raz*War is selling and comparing them with competitor products.  In the past, I was quite well organized in my "shaving experiments", but, now, I am more spontaneous.  For the ones interrested, I even created http://www.rateyourshave.com on the basis of my daily shaving experiments. The experiment form that I posted on the website, is a form that I used at home for my own shaving experiments. Now, everyone can find it and download it for their own purpose. And Raz*War consumers can, even, contribute to the improvement of Raz*War brand through what I call "Social R&D"!

(To be honest with you, I am not sure a lot of people downloaded the form or,even, noticed it. I am, even, not sure that this is relevant info. Anyway... Maybe, you tell me?)

Whatever, today, I just would like to post of my discoveries made during my shaving experiments. I discovered that our shaving oil is the best shaving oil in combination with Raz*War soap. I stilll need to understand this. The "why" is not clear to me... But, what I am sure, is that you will obtain the same results in your bathroom.

For the moment, I tested only 4 shaving oils in combination with Raz*War soap. One from Khiel's, one from The Art of Shaving, a new potential formulation for Raz*War and Raz*War's current shaving oil. (I tested much more shaving oils in the past. But, in these last days, I was testing combinations of shaving oil + Raz*War soap). The readers who follow me know already my point of view about Raz*War shaving oil (Really a premium shaving oil: try it now). But what about the combination of shaving oil + soap? What I remarked clearly is that Raz*War Shaving Oil is the best oil for obtaining a first quality foam in a few seconds.

So, let's start with the beginning.

For many readers, the following steps are now well known, but I want to make things quite clear.  First, take you shaving oil (See picture) and prepare your shaving by puting shaving oil on your face (For details of how using it: see following hyperlink: http://www.razwar.com/blogs/blog/2287272-the-pleasure-of-shaving-1 ).

Then, take your Raz*War soap ( A mild -and very pleasant- premium soap with Sorbitol as humectant instead of Glycerine, that normally produces moderate foam), and, with your fingers still wet of some shaving oil (The fingers you used for massaging your face with shaving oil), "rub" them on the reverse side of your soap. The very thin film of shaving oil on the reverse side of your shaving soap will make the différence! Chemically, it will be enough to obtain what is called an "emulsion" (To check out what is an emulsion, follow this link to Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emulsion ).

Now, take your shaving brush. For my experiment, I took the synthetic fibres shaving brush. Make it wet (Not too wet. You can adapt the amount of water later). And, by rotating the brush on the reverse side of the soap (with a thin film of shaving oil), you will obtain in a few second a very creamy and pleasant foam. Test yourself! For me it, take FIVE seconds! (Hence, I cannot accept the argument of people saying that classical wetshaving takes too much time...)

For obtaining better results, you can, even use, a shaving bowl. Check it out

And, now, lets come to my conclusion with the results of this experiment:

For a still unknown reason, it is with Raz*War shaving oil (versus others) that I obtained the best and more pleasant creamy foam in the minimum of time!  I wanted to share this news today, before getting an explanation. Do you have an explanation for me? :-)

I hope you will like this quite new info ...and that you will re-do the experiment yourself in your bathroom. Raz*War is about rediscovering "The Pleasure of Shaving". Hence, we want you to really like our products.  If you like this post, share it with your friends!

Your comments (based on your experiments) are welcome.

And do not forget to visit the store.

Keep on shaving!
